MECHANIC POSITION

Position Type: Part-Time (Approx. 30 hours/week)

Schedule: Friday – Monday (Primary focus on weekends when the fleet is home)

About the Role
We are a tight-knit trucking operation running a dedicated, clean fleet of Peterbilt 389s. Because our trucks are out working hard during the week and head back to the yard for the weekend, we need a reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented Diesel Mechanic to keep them in peak condition. This is the perfect role for a skilled tech looking for a steady, part-time weekend schedule.

Typical Tasks & Responsibilities
Your primary mission is preventative maintenance and keeping our 389s safe, compliant, and road-ready. Typical duties include:

Routine Maintenance: Routine services, oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid top-offs.

Brake & Suspension Systems: Inspecting, adjusting, and replacing brake shoes, drums, chambers, and air lines, as well as maintaining the suspension components.

Diagnostics & Electrical: Troubleshooting check engine lights, aftertreatment/SCR/DPF systems, and tracking down electrical gremlins or lighting issues.

Pre/Post-Trip Repairs: Addressing driver write-ups ranging from minor fixes (wipers, mirrors, latches) to larger mechanical repairs.

Tire Management: Checking tread depth, monitoring inflation, and performing tire rotations or replacements as needed.

Documentation: Keeping clean, accurate maintenance records for DOT compliance and fleet tracking.

Expectations & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working on heavy-duty commercial trucks. Specific familiarity with the Peterbilt 389 platform, Cummins X15 engines, and Reitnouer trailers is a massive plus.

Compliance: Solid understanding of DOT inspection standards and safety regulations.

Reliability: Since our trucks are only down for a short window over the weekend, punctuality and efficiency during your Friday–Monday shift are critical, some maintenance during the week may arise.

License: A valid driver’s license is required; a Class A CDL is highly preferred (for test driving and moving trucks around the yard).

What We Offer
Consistent Work: A predictable schedule

Competitive Pay: $25-30 / hour (depending on experience).

Great Work Environment: A well-equipped shop where your work directly impacts the success and safety of our drivers.

1 week paid vacation after your first year, 2 weeks after 3+ years

Partial health care insurance reimbursement
